Chiclets memories... One
of my earliest memories is riding the local bus downtown and back with
my mom in Easton, Pennsylvania. The buses had Chiclets dispensers on
them, mounted by the back door, and if my mom gave me a penny or two I
could get a little box with 2 pieces of spearmint Chiclets, my
favorite. I think it was the first coin operated dispenser I ever saw.

When I was about 5 years old, I ran to the milk-mans
delivery truck for a sliver of ice, it was summer and the milk man
used to let us get ice to cool off. After I got my piece of ice, I was
running back to my side of the street and I fell. I bit the tip of my
tongue so my mother had to take me to the doctor for stitches. I
screamed the whole time. When he was through, he said I was a good boy
and gave me a box (2 pieces) of peppermint Chiclets. Great, stitches
in my tongue and he gives me gum!!!! ~ William from Massachusetts
When I was a little girl my father used to take his
pocket knife and dig a beneath a particular weed on our farm and find
Chiclets down among the roots. I can remember him sitting back on his
knees with his fingers tucked in his pocket and then digging up more
Chiclets for us to chew. I dug those weeds for years and never had the
harvest he did! ~ Barb from Montana
More memories... We used to live in Monroe, CT. and there was a lot of farms there. One day we went to the local grocery store, Big Y and
bought some Chiclets from the little machine. When we were driving back home my mom decided to stop by and see one of her friends. Her
friend lived next door to one of the farms. And I noticed some chickens, so joking around my sister told me to give them some Chiclets. So I
did being that I was only 6. And then the chicken's beak got stuck together. I got in so much trouble! ~ John form Florida
For the past 10 years I have been running a family golf outing in the memory of my grandmother who had past away 18 years
ago. Every year we try to do something that is a memory of her to us she has 4 children and 11 grandchildren. This year I purchased candy
jar and had labels made up with her name and picture on them.
Growing up I always remembered my grandmother having the small box with 2 Chiclets in it and her always saying have a "Chiclets". I know
this will be a big hit this year and bring a lot of memories back to all of us. ~ Susan from New York
