When my brother and I were young children and would drive to Nebraska where most of our family lived and both my parents had grown up, my dad could not do without 3 things. Stopping at the first rest stop across the Iowa border, coffee, and a cherry mash. He said he grew up eating them and he remembered when he'd run down the street and get them for 10 cents. Usually by the end of his cherry mash it was all over the steering wheel and his shirt, but I don't think I could think about my dad without thinking about cherry mash. ~ Johanna from Illinois

Average Rating    a new old favorite   Watching a program on Food Network on the subject of retro-candy, my son saw a portion regarding Cherry Mash and became semi-obsessed with acquiring some. We inquired at our local gourmet shop who informed us they could not get them. While I ordered these as part of my sons Christmas, I just had to sneak one and, OMG! SUPER YUMMILY!!! Just as I remember it from my youth. I have found them in a few specialty candy stores but they are usually older and not so fresh ... and YES it does make a difference! At last they are never too far away! With Old Time Candy, I just have to make sure I order before I'm out. I ordered these for my father, who had been longing for a Cherry Mash since 1968.
