Charms candy memories... When I was a child I
used to use Charms to build houses with my friends Mickey and Louis.
We would wet the charms and stick them together. We used to have
contests on who would build the bigger and better houses. I remember
one time when we were out in my back yard, all three of us built this
house together, it was BIG! Later that evening when I was in bed I could hear that it was raining out. When
I woke up the next morning I
looked out the window and all I saw was a huge mound of melted
charms!! It was the funniest sight I have ever seen. ~ Robert from
New Jersey
When I was
about 7, I remember my mother getting me a pack of charms assorted
candy while we waited for a bus in L.A. we were going to see my
grandparents in Oklahoma. The bus ride took what seemed like weeks to
get there but at every stop the candy machine sold Charms assorted
candy, I remember that trip with my mom and how much I loved her and
the charms she bought me.
Later on in life about 20 years
I was in the Navy. I flew in a helicopter doing med-a-vacs in desert
storm and one day our helo went down. 400 miles inland away from our
ship with no idea when were going to get help. That night while
sitting in the sand waiting I reached in to an MRE and got a pack of
Charms Assorted candy, first thing I thought was mom and a long trip,
those were the best charms I ever had, next morning we got out of
there but those charms sure made the stay there much easer. ~ Alfonso
from Oklahoma
I loved fruit flavored candies as a child. They seemed so exotic and were lots of
fun! I had very little money to spend; I always thought I got more for my money with Charms. There was no hole in the middle and the corners
were not cut off. Since Charms were individually wrapped, they were easy to store and easy to share. I associated the different colors and
flavors with my moods. When I was sad, I had a purple one. When I was happy, I had an orange one. The others just fell in between. Wow, I
have not thought about this in many, many years! Great memory! ~ Myra from Alabama
Elementary school trips were
always punctuated by a trip to the candy store in preparation for
the bus ride. Among the candies in my crumpled brown bag were
Charms. Cherry flavor was my absolute favorite! I remember walking
through the Museum of Natural History with my class and accidentally
dropping my Charms. Since I had sorted them on the bus (to get the
cherry) they weren't in the roll. They hit the floor and scattered
everywhere! ~ Ally from New Jersey
