"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here.Candy Corn always makes me think of the late 1960's when I was a little boy living in a small town with my parents and my 6 siblings. We had a large family, so money was usually very tight, so I always looked forward to Halloween and getting treats from our neighbors.
I specifically remember this one Halloween, when I knocked on the door of a Candy Salesman (I didn't know it at the time) and he and his wife invited me into their home, as they were inviting all the neighborhood kids inside of a Halloween party. I was so surprised, my eyes lit up, there was candy and decorations everywhere!
They let us take handfuls of any candy we wanted, and I headed over to a big bowl of Candy Corn, and took a few handfuls. I didn't want to be rude, so I explained that I had 6 siblings who I had planned to share it with. The couple laughed and thought it was cute, so they gave me a big brand new bag or candy corn to take home and share with the whole family. I felt like I had hit the jackpot. Every time I see candy corn, I remember the kind neighbors and the coolest Halloween I ever had! ~ Gary from Michigan
