Bottle Caps candy memories... I have to tell you that this was awesome when I heard
about your website. I am 29 yrs old and love bottle caps. I have been
looking for years for this candy and I have finally found it! When I
was a little kid. I played little league baseball and the had a candy
shack there. The bottle caps candy was the only one I ate before each
game. I had to have it every game, my friends on the team would call
me the bottle cap kid. I really miss those days and this website made
me so happy that you have it. ~ Adam from Pennsylvania
What wonderful
memories come from something so small. I'm talking about 'Bottle Caps'
when I was a little boy, 7 or 8 years old I would take my allowance
money down to Joes Market and buy all the Bottle caps I could afford.
Then I would race home and go directly to my bedroom where I would
open all the packs at once. These would get dumped out on my bed and
separated by color.
I would then proceed (as any
little boy would) to stage a war between all the various colors. The
fighting would be intense, over the pillow, around a crumple of
blankets, through a tunnel in the sheets. Casualties were taken off
the battlefield and never seen again. Mmm Mmm good. The purples would
'go' first, then the oranges, and so on, until only the brown (root
beer) ones remained victorious. Their victory was always short-lived,
because being my favorite, they didn't last long. Yum, Yum.
Recently I stumbled across some bottle caps at a little mom and pop
store and bought all they had. I no longer play war games, but the
memories are sweeter than ever. ~ Ken from Oregon
When I was about 7 years old
my older sister and I would take my two brothers to the corner
market that had various candies. Every Saturday my parents wanted an
hour or so of alone time - they would give us $1.00 to share between
the 4 of us. We each got to choose .25 cents worth. Although my
siblings would always choose different candies - I always chose
bottle caps. I felt I was the smartest choosing that candy because I
would get 2 treats. I would eat them right out of the bag and then I
would take the few I had saved and add them to water to make soda!
The best of course was the brown (root beer) YUM! ~ Kris from
California
I have a special childhood memory of
Bottle Caps. My father worked as a train brakeman out of the local train yard.
This job required him to be on the road for three days at a time. He hated being
away from his family for so long.
Every time he returned home after being
on the rails, he would bring me a surprise. This surprise usually turned out to
be a package of Bottle Caps. I was always overjoyed to receive them as it meant
my father thought of me while he was away. I never shared them with anyone
except my father because they were special. He liked the orange flavored ones.
My father passed away many years ago. I
recently came across a package of Bottle Caps. I savored each one quietly. Each
taste brought back a memory of my father and the special times we shared
over a package of Bottle Caps. ~ Sharon from Alabama
