[continued from above]
The Boston Baked Bean is created using the cold panned candy process. This process involves building candy pieces from single units, such as peanuts, and tossing them into revolving pans while adding flavor, color and other candy ingredients. This process continues until the pieces become the size desired.
My family always did a lot of cook outs when I was little and the one thing I could not stand to eat was baked beans. What repulsed me even more was the fact that my big sister always asked for them as a treat! Every time my mom would go to the store my sister would ask her to get some Boston Baked Beans and then she would gobble them up. I was beyond shocked that anyone would want to eat beans out of a little box.
One day I discussed my repulsion with my mother and she just busted out laughing. Now, not only was I sickened, but upset that my mom was laughing at me. Finally, when she caught her breath, she told me that Boston Baked Beans were a yummy candy and they were not actually beans. The next time she went to the store she bought me some. Of course I was a little hesitant, but I tried them and I loved them. They are my favorite candy to this very day. ~ Marjorie from Missouri
