When I was young my parents owned an upholstery shop in Salt Lake City, Utah. Down the street was a diner called The Platter. At the little glass display counter where the cashier was, the top shelf in the counter had an array of candy bars and Life Savers. Each item was a nickel (a couple years later they were ten cents). Not everyday, but every so often, my mom or dad would tell us kids to come to them for a minute. If they were getting their wallets out, we knew it meant they were going to give us money to go to The Platter and get candy bars.  I had lots of favorites but the Milky Way, Haystack, and Idaho Spud were my most favorite.
