Why not mix-up your go-to Thanksgiving desserts?

In our home, Thanksgiving desserts don’t stray too far from the norm year after year. We usually just enjoy relaxing after the big meal with our favorite pies topped with vanilla ice cream. But why not mix it up a little this year? We love candy so much that we think it’s time it be included in the festivities. So whether they’re for younger guests who are scared by the aspect of  pumpkin pie (vegetables in pie?), or just wanting to add a little something extra to your table display, these candy-centered treats are not only fun and delicious, but will easily become a new family tradition.

These Candy Turkey Bites are not only adorable but super easy to make! You simply top pretzels with Rolos and warm the combo in the oven. As soon as the Rolos begin to soften, you remove them from the oven and add the turkey’s feathers (Candy Corn), eyes, and beak(M&M’s). If prepping the treat with your children or grandchildren, prep the pretzel and Rolo combo beforehand and then invite the kids to decorate them once they are warm. These treats require such little prep work you can even make them an hour or two before your guests arrive. Just make sure you add the adorable candy eyes to your grocery list. They can be found in most baking aisles at your local grocery store.

These Paper Bag Turkey Legs, are great dessert options for the kids at your table or even make cute additions to your table’s place settings. All you need are brown paper bags and plain white paper. Both of which can be bought at the grocery store as you’re shopping for ingredients for your holiday meal. Simply add any small wrapped candy such as Hershey’s Miniatures, Hershey Kisses, and Mini Baby Ruth’s. They can even be saved as take-home “party favors” for the younger kids to take with them on their way home.

Why settle for plain ‘ol rice treats when you can bake these cute Rice Krispie Treat Pumpkins? The recipe only requires three extra ingredients. When preparing the treats, add some orange food coloring and roll the mixture into balls instead of pressing it into a pan. After they’ve slightly cooled, add a Rolo and an M&M garnish to make the stem. Your Thanksgiving spread is instantly upgraded and totally Pinterest-worthy. If you aren’t a fan of Rolos, easily substitute them for Tootsie Rolls.

These Cornucopia Candy Favors make dessert easy to carry for the little ones. Don’t worry about messy couch or carpet spills ever again. Plus, every part of this treat can be edible if displayed without the decorative wrapping which means no clean up! Simply buy some waffle cones the next time you’re at the grocery store, follow the instructions to curl the ends and fill with unwrapped candy. We find that small candy generally works best such as Candy Corn, M&M’s, Fall Nonpareils, Gummi Candy Corn, and Fall Gummi Bears. Can’t stay away from adding the cute wrapping? Send them home with guests and the little ones for an extra treat the next day.

With all of these candy options, it’s going to be hard to just settle for pie this Thanksgiving! Customize these ideas, make them your own, and share your pictures with us on social media. We’d love to see what you come up with. Happy Thanksgiving!
