Nostalgic gum memories... I remember these gums from when I was little. My favorite
memory of Black Jack is when we used to go to the Italian deli by our
house and the owner used to give me Black Jack gum for free. Wow - for
free! I also remember that this always wasn't my favorite gum, but I
liked getting it for free and the inside wrapper used to have a
picture of a pirate on it.
My dad used to chew Clove gum and we always used to steal it out of
his pockets (that and Regal Crown Sour Cherries). The thing is they
tasted different then, guess it was from the home heating oil he used
to deliver (must have been the fumes!) ~ Kristine from New Jersey
I lived on a farm
with not too many close neighbors. At Halloween I didn't get trick or treaters and I didn't go trick or treating at neighbors. I only got to
go to relatives if my Mother could sneak the car to take me. She didn't have a drivers license.
One Halloween night she was driving me to a cousins house and I had chewed Black Jack gum and pasted
it on my teeth. A local policeman stopped my Mother as one of the cars brake lights was burned out. He knew us and didn't ask for my
Mother's drivers license, good thing! But he did tell her I needed to see a dentist. I'm still not sure if that was a joke or not. ~ Connie

I am a licorice freak, have always been, still am. When I was a
teenager in 1962-1963 I discovered my very favorite, black jack gum. Well let me tell you I would save the wrappers from the gum and make a
gum wrapper chain (very popular then).
Well I chewed enough of this gum to make a 100 ft. gum wrapper chain which I had until my mom moved in 1999 and she finally through all the
old boxes out. Unfortunately that included my gum wrapper chain. But that was a very favorite candy memory. ~ Debra from California
