"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here.Every time my parents sent me to the corner store to get "Something we forgot!” I would hope that there was enough change for me to sample a few of the seemingly endless variety of penny and nickel candies. One day, I happened upon what was then called Johnny Apple Treats. It was INSTANTLY my favorite, and from that day forward, any time I had 5 cents to spare, it went toward a box of those yummy treats that were sour for the perfect amount of time, then gave you the sweet finish!
At age 11, I moved to a different region of the country and my favorite candy was nowhere to be found. A couple years ago, my husband and I stopped for gas at a station on the way to visit relatives. Before going to the counter, I checked the candy isle, as I did in every store since I was a kid. Well lo and behold, there it was! The name had changed to Appleheads, but I knew that my two decade long search was finally over! ~ Nikki from Florida
