"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here.Whenever I smell anything with Anise in it, I think back to my childhood. As far back as I can remember when I was a child in the 60's, my father always had Anise squares. I'm sure my mother was the one who bought these but to this day I have never seen her eat one.
None of my friends had ever even heard of these & many spit them out as soon as they taste them. I also remember them making fun of the word anise & we all had a big laugh. They have such a great liquorice taste but even as an adult I have had trouble getting people to try them. My mouth starts to water when I watch a TV show & they cook with fennel & say it taste like anise.
I realize I haven't bought these for some years & now really crave that smooth taste. I'm sure they are still as delicious as they always were. I think I'll have to give some to my dad too. ~ Pam from Wisconsin
